THE draft Executive Order (EO) that will pave the way for the creation of an independent commission that will investigate anomalous flood control projects has been submitted to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said on Sunday.
Marcos approves EO for commission to probe flood project anomalies
“We have given that a very serious study. It’s a very ideal commission for that purpose of looking into flood control anomalies,” Bersamin said in a chance interview at the Villamor Air Base following Marcos’ departure for a state visit to Cambodia.
“We expect that in its final form, the Executive Order will be accepted by the people because that is what we’re doing. Everything is for the people,” he said.
The President, who ordered an audit of the government’s flood-mitigation projects, earlier noted that the panel will be making recommendations on how to proceed against liable parties, whether to file cases with the Office of the Ombudsman or the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Underscoring the wide scope of the commission’s tasks and the sternness of his administration’s commitment to addressing corruption, Marcos said he wants it to be made up of individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise.
He said time is of the essence in creating the investigative body since congressional deliberations for the national government’s 2026 budget have started.
One of the names reportedly being considered by the Palace to lead the panel is former police general and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong., This news data comes from:http://elr-jkan-do-vfqs.gangzhifhm.com
Bersamin clarified that nothing is definite yet. “We will leave that to the discretion of the President,” he said.
